Staggered holiday for industries introduced
ET Report

Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company has introduced a new holiday chart for the industrial units in and around the capital to tackle the ongoing gas crisis.
Petrobangla and different business associations recently decided to divide areas in the capital and its adjacent districts to seven zones and staggered the holidays.
Industrial units, except processing units, at each zone will observe holiday on separate days in a week.
Titas Gas has formed five core teams, led by five general managers, and some sub-committees to monitor whether the plants are following the new holiday chart. The committees also include representatives from different business associations.
Titas has already published newspaper advertisements to make the industries aware about the new holiday chart.
Officials of Titas, however, said that they would not be forcing any industry to follow the new holiday chart.
"If any industry fails to follow the new holiday plan, we will try to make them understand about the government's position and that their assistance is needed for tackling gas crisis,' said a senior official of Titas.
The units which will be out of the purview of the new plan include industries related with textiles, dying and washing.
Besides, some factories which need uninterrupted gas supply to run captive power plants will also be exempted from the new plan, he said.
Industrial units at Narsingdhi, Ghorashal, Palash, Keraniganj, Munshiganj, Gulshan, Banani, Badda, Uttara, Kafrul, Airport area, Dakkhin Khan and Zoar Shahara are supposed to observe weekly holiday on Wednesday under the new holiday chart.
